Windows XP mode - cannot access \\Virtualxp-XXXXX from Windows XP Pro machine on network
Hi, I've installed Windows XP on Win 7 Pro (x64) machine & installed some applications on VM. I'm trying to network the XP mdoe VM with other Windows XP Pro machine. Under the "workgroup computers" , I see the virtual machine, however when I try to access the VM I get message \\Virtualxp-27806 is not accessible. I specify the user name in format VIRTUALXP-XXXXX\XPMUser and leave pwd blank (as the password for logging into VM with user XPMUser is blank) I accidently deleted the saved credentials on the XP mode virutal machine & now at least I can log-in with user XPMuser and pwd blank. I have created local user (as administrator) on XP mode VM, but it does not ask me to log-in as this user, it always prompts with user XPMUser & I don't see the XPMUser user can be maintained either. Bottom line, when I'm accessing the VM from different XP Professional machine on network, what is the format in which you specify the user-id & which user id to use - XPMUser or the local user I created on VM. I enter user-id as "VIRTUALXP-27806\XPMUser" and pwd is blank, then I get Logon failure window. Is it because the pwd is blank, but to log-in to VM the pwd is blank. Thanks for any insight you can provide. Kevin
